Sports Massage uses aspects of Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage that can help alleviate tension and stress which builds up in the body's soft tissues during physical and mental activity and can help heal minor injuries and scar tissue, caused by overuse and overexertion.

Sports massage therapy is more adapted for athletes to deal with the effects of athletic performance on the body. It is generally used, before, during and after athletic events, to prepare for peak performance, reduce muscle tension, relieve swelling, promote flexibility and prevent injuries.


The plantar fascia is a broad, thick band of tissue that runs from under the heel to the front of the foot. Repetitive activity or overuse of our feet causes this fascia to stretch. Sometimes when this happens, small tears appear in the fascia and at it’s attachment at the heel cause inflammation, scar tissues and adhesions to form and can be painful.


Shin splints is a general term used to refer to a painful condition in the shins. The medical term for the condition is medial tibial syndrome. Anterior Shin Splints Attributed to: Lack of gastrocnemius flexibility, significant strength discrepancy between dorsiflexors and planterflexors Causes: Overtraining – especially early in the season, sprinting, uphill running – forward body lean, sudden changes in running surface, stiff training shoes, over striding on downhill work, training on hard surfaces and poor posture.


What is tennis elbow? The medical term for tennis elbow is lateral epicondylitis, because it affects the outside of the elbow bone called the lateral epicondyle. The cause of the problem is due to the pulling on the periosteum, a membrane that lines the outer surface the bone by the tendons of the chronically tight muscles of the extensor muscles of the forearm. Tendon damage can occur after a single incident, such as lifting something very heavy, causing a tear in the tendon.
