Deep Tissue Massage

deep tissue massage

Deep Tissue Massage focuses on the muscles and fascia in a deeper way, using Myofascial release techniques and aims to “melt and unstick and restore fluidity” of the muscle fibres and fascia.

Sports massage

Sports Massage uses aspects of Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage that can help alleviate tension and stress, which builds up in the body’s soft tissues during physical and mental activity and can help heal minor injuries and scar tissue, caused by overuse and overexertion.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage

Swedish Massage is designed to relax muscles, using oil, to facilitate long gliding strokes, kneading techniques, helping to improve circulation, lymphatic drainage, relieve muscle tension and promote relaxation.

Massage benefits

I view the practice of massage as a key tenet of overall physical and emotional wellbeing. There are many advantages to having regular massage, some of which are outlined below:

Physical Wellness

1.

Massage helps to relax the nervous system and decrease stress levels, tension and muscle spasms release, allowing for deeper breathing.

2.

Massage helps to reduce blood pressure and increase circulation.

3.

The lymphatic system is aided by massage to excrete wastes produced by the body's metabolism.

4.

Massage increases ease of movement and flexibility, enhances all the systems of the body, such as the circulatory, nervous and immune areas resulting in a better quality of physical health.

5.

Massage helps to release waste and toxins from the body, such as lactic acid and helps to create a greater relaxation of the muscles and improve the physiology and psychology of the body.

6.

Massage aids overall physical recovery of any injury or trauma.

Mental & Emotional Wellness

1.

Massage reduces mental stress by calming the mind, which encourages mental clarity and a relaxed state of alertness.

2.

Massage also allows the body to experience an ease of emotional expression, a sense of wellbeing and an increase in energy flow. This reduces anxiety and causes a natural integration of mind and body, thus achieving balance.

3.

Massage can help to reduce stress, which is probably the most valuable asset to everyone, as it is increasingly believed that 80-90% of all disease is stress related.

4.

Massage effectively lowers stress and increases relaxation, allowing your internal energy to flow freely.

5.

Massage increases the production of feel good hormones, serotonin, dopamine and endorphins, which boost the body's ability to fight off pain, anxiety and emotions of sadness.

6.

Regular massage can heavily assist with mental and emotional recovery.
