Sports Massage uses aspects of Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage that can help alleviate tension and stress which builds up in the body's soft tissues during physical and mental activity and can help heal minor injuries and scar tissue, caused by overuse and overexertion.

Sports massage therapy is more adapted for athletes to deal with the effects of athletic performance on the body. It is generally used, before, during and after athletic events, to prepare for peak performance, reduce muscle tension, relieve swelling, promote flexibility and prevent injuries.

A technique utilized to make muscle tissue that is bound up, melt, loosen and lengthen. A webbing called fascia can tighten and thicken as a result of poor movement and changes in posture. The longer a movement is constricted, the harder it is to move freely and the body becomes more locked and tight. Myofascial release is a fantastic technique that can get to where the fascia has thickened and tightened. After Myofascial release is implemented, muscles becomes more pliable and looser, allowing for easier movement.

Whiplash occurs when the soft tissues in the spine are stretched and strained after the body is thrown in a sudden, forceful jerk. The injury most commonly occurs in car accidents involving sudden deceleration, but the injury can also occur in other strenuous physical activities such as diving. The most frequent complaints are headaches and stiffness in the neck and the back of the head. These symptoms appear within the first couple of days after the accident and usually pass after a few days to a few weeks.

This is a degenerative condition, which affects the inter-vertebral joints due to wear and tear commonly caused by posture and occupational stress. The muscles become imbalanced and develop chronic tension, the ligaments around the joints become thicker and less pliable. The joints normally affected are C4 to T1, T4 toT6 and L2 to L4, although other parts of the spine can also be affected as they compensate for the problem. Deep massage and friction therapy are essential to loosen tense and tight areas, especially around the vertebrae and other areas that may be directly affected.

The plantar fascia is a broad, thick band of tissue that runs from under the heel to the front of the foot. Repetitive activity or overuse of our feet causes this fascia to stretch. Sometimes when this happens, small tears appear in the fascia and at it’s attachment at the heel cause inflammation, scar tissues and adhesions to form and can be painful.
