This is a degenerative condition, which affects the inter-vertebral joints due to wear and tear commonly caused by posture and occupational stress.

The muscles become imbalanced and develop chronic tension, the ligaments around the joints become thicker and less pliable.

The joints normally affected are C4 to T1, T4 toT6 and L2 to L4, although other parts of the spine can also be affected as they compensate for the problem.

Deep massage and friction therapy are essential to loosen tense and tight areas, especially around the vertebrae and other areas that may be directly affected.
